Three Facts About Orlando
- A deep freeze in the late 1800s caused farms to move their citrus crops further south making Orlando the first main hub of Florida’s citrus industry. Ironically, the extreme weather occurring in 1981, 1983, 1985, and again in December of 1989, caused Orlando to experience a series of severe cold waves with record-breaking temperatures, snow, ice, sleet, and hard freezes, which devastated the local citrus industry causing sell-offs of large tracks of orange groves to developers.
- Orlando is home to more than 100 lakes.
- Lake Eola in downtown Orlando is actually a giant sinkhole and is 80 feet at its deepest point.

Hello. My name is Bill Moore, a life-long resident, born and raised right here in Orlando. Over the years, I have watched Orlando mature from orange groves, most of which were destroyed in the Winter of 1989, to the thriving metropolitan city we live in today. Many residents are upgrading to a newer home, while others are moving into the state to start a new career, raise a family, or retire.
